Bio
Alice Wang is a Chinese-Canadian writer, director, and camera assistant based in Toronto. Keeping their parents happy with a degree in psychology from the University of Toronto, they have now transitioned to filmmaking and enjoys writing stories they have always wanted to tell. Having worked on various projects ranging from indie shorts, web series, features, and kids tv shows, Alice has worked as a story coordinator on Hello Again, a production assistant on Gary’s Magic Fort and a production coordinator at CBC Kids. Recently, Alice was the program coordinator at Regent Park Film Festival. An ArtReach grantee and ¼ of Videatur Collective, they’re passionate about supporting youth from underrepresented communities in creative fields such as filmmaking. An RBC Emerging Director’s Award recipient and winner of the Regent Park Film Festival pitch competition with their web series, Rent-A-Girlfriend, they gravitate towards stories about loss, acceptance, and belonging. Their first short film played in Vancouver Asian Film Festival, JAYU Festival and Regent Park Film Festival.
