Bio
Anika Jarrett is a first generation Jamaican-Canadian television writer based in Toronto. Much of her inspiration in story-telling can be drawn from her extensive work with marginalized individuals and communities as a post-incarceration counsellor, housing worker and social worker. Anika currently holds a certificate in Television Writing from UCLA and is a graduate of Humber College’s Television Writing and Producing postgraduate program. She was a recent participant of the 2021 inaugural BIPOC TV & Film Black and Indigenous Drama Writers Intensive.
Her award-winning documentary short, IN THE DARK has screened in college classrooms across the province and received Best Director honors at the Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival. She currently has a pilot in development with Husk Media.
