Bio

Montreal-born and raised, Léa Rondot is a French Québécois-Filipino award-winning filmmaker and writer. Now based in Toronto, she splits her time between writing/directing/producing short films and developing & pitching original TV series.

She got her start as a club improviser at the age of 21. This was the beginning of nearly 15 years of stage experience with sketch & improv, while also earning a BFA in Theatre Performance from Concordia University.

She’s worked as a writers’ assistant on the Just For Laughs Galas for three years and worked in development at IGP Productions (Remedy, Street Legal, King).

Léa’s pilot scripts have been selected to the Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices Pitch Program, the WIFT-T Digital Series Incubator, the Working The Scene in Colour Live Reads (helmed by CFC alum Jessica Meya), and the Women On Screen Webserie Incubator who have subsequently showcased her work at the WOS Fundraiser event.

Her short films have screened at festivals, some taking awards. She won the Best Short Film Jury Prize at the ACTRA Awards MTL and Audience Choice at the Iron Mule Comedy Film Fest in NYC. Her latest short film, AWAKE, is an official selection of the NSI Online Short Film Festival and premiered online on the NSI platform after a world premiere in Paris, France, at L’Étrange Festival.

Intro

It’s so great to be part of Toronto’s wonderful BIPOC community. I’ve been working on various original dramatic comedy TV series ideas and have will keep honing my craft as a writer, director, and storyteller; exploring and strengthening my artistic voice.
