Bio
I’m a Screenwriter first and a filmmaker. I also work as a Freelance Creative based in Toronto, Ontario. Born in Cairo and raised in Ottawa, Ontario with some time in Hargeisa, Somaliland. I have an observational approach to work and life that seeks to document without interacting. Curating the lowest common denominator to give people what they want, where they want and tell them when they want it.
While pursuing creative endeavours; I worked a number of jobs unrelated to the field but helped me develop skills that are transferable. I ran and organized the campus rec-leagues at Carleton University when I was a student there. I also created youth programming and supervised employees at a group home. After moving to Toronto in 2016, I’ve been in and out of the city’s creative scene working freelance on commercial shoots and writing copy. Since early 2019 I’ve been working as the Creative Director for the Earners Life brand and flagship recording artists Yesway.
Intro
I’m brought here by various interactions with the BIPOC film and tv group. I’ve managed to make more inroads through your networking events than I ever did on my own in my actual field.
At the moment I’m working some documentary lifestyle projects. The COVID situation has me unsure of what to write right now. As I would have to reference it and it isn’t anywhere near over. I do have projects that are unaffected by this but even then I’m waiting to see what the world is like to report back on it through film.
