Bio
A veteran in the film industry of over 35 years, PoPing was the casting director for the first big budget American film (Tai-Pan), directed by Vancouver’s award-winning Daryl Duke, shot entirely in China in the mid 80s. She specializes in casting English-speaking Asian roles for North American and Asian film and TV projects.
She has cast feature films with a wide range of budgets, from big budget films for major studios such as Warner Bros. box office hit ‘The MEG’ , Sony’s “Karate Kid” (Jackie Chan), to smaller yet equally successful film and TV projects.
PoPing was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017, making her one of the very few POC Canadian members.
She is currently developing a limited TV series, based on a Canadian award-wining book about the lives of four generations of women in a Chinese family, set in Vancouver’s Chinatown.
