Bio
Tristen Sutherland is a director/ writer whose stories often act as a means of highlighting the humanity of BIPOC members of the LGBTQ+ community. Their most recent short film “Owen” follows the relationship change between a mother and her trans-son during his coming out and premiered at the Denton Black Film Festival. Sutherland was also selected to be a member of the Black Women in Film Canada’s Mentorship cohort in 2019. Their newest script “Halfway Boy” is featured in this year’s Working the Scene in Colour’s reading series.
